printing

Aidy is getting better at his writing....

..... some neat words....

....but he was still getting a little frustrated that he couldn't do it neat enough, so we got him this book to practice his printing. He was excited to start it!

addition

I take horrible pictures, but here is a sample of Aiden's addition work.

I love that by the end of the week he was saying, "Mom, this is an easy one," when actually he was working on the same stuff. It means he is getting it and progressing :)

First Spelling Test!

Aiden aced his first spelling test after copying, writing, and saying his ten words. He almost spelled cake with a k but corrected himself :)

I let him mark his test. Note the left handed check marks.

Another sample of Aiden's printing. We are not copying the loopy writing style but working on our previous learned letters as to not confuse him.

Dad projects.

Aiden , Gemma, and Keiran built this birdhouse with Dad.... soon to come it will have some paint added.

Dad gave each of the kids a compost bin. In front you can see the old compost.

The coffee can recycle bucket.

Good and Healthy

Aiden made a healthy yogurt smoothie which tasted like frozen yogurt. Yum!

Posing with his kid cookbook.

Check out the nutritional value.

Gathering.

Daddy just happens to keep some frozen fruit on hand. Then apple juice, yogurt, and our fresh honey from our field trip.

Ready to mix.

Instructions say to puree.

Success.

Goats

At the beginning of the school year the goats came to town. Over two hundred goats came to eat the weeds around the town. They travel around eating weeds as an alternative to chemical spraying. Aiden, Gemma, and Keiran visited the goats three times as they were in the pen to digest, and saw them on the hill eating too. They learned about the goats chewing their cud and having more than one stomach. Mostly we just went to see them and what they were all about. Just found these pics so we might as well share them.

Corn Maze- Tranquille Farms

Yesterday we all went to Tranquille Farms. First we learned about how bees make honey. The kids sampled some fresh honey, ate some honey comb, and even got to pour their own jar. Then we went and took on the corn maze.

Fresh honey to taste.

Honeycomb.

Gemma pouring the first half of the jar.

Aiden filling the jar (Keiran is peeking beside him).

Caught them for a quick pic in the corn maze.

Keiran is holding the map. There were also clues along the way at every fork in the road.

Corn husks.

The main building.

Gem Math

.... And here is Gemma counting the blocks in the back of her Montessori Math book:

Some Math

Aiden has made it to decimal street in his math book. This street houses hundreds, tens, and units (ones). Math-U-See has a great way of teaching math concepts. Here is some of Aidy's work:
